PROBLEM CHILD

When I was a teenager, I spent half of my time yearning for a girlfriend, and the other half devising ways to avoid asking a girl out. Not only was I a total coward, but I was also incredibly couterproductive. All I had to do was ask a girl out. I couldn't do it. My refusal to face rejection head-on left me extremely bitter.

I didn't blame anyone in particular for my shortcomings. I blamed the entire world ... through poetry.

I wrote this poem when my senior year crush went to prom with someone else.
