Set List

  • "Housewife's Lament"
  • "Angel Gabriel"
  • "Shady Grove"
  • "Peggy-O"

New York singer-songwriter Josh Joplin and Nashville singer-songwriter Garrison Starr have both appeared on Mountain Stage as solo performers. Looking to detour from their solo careers, the pair started a collaboration known as Among the Oak and Ash.

Recasting old-time themes and tunes, Among the Oak and Ash's self-titled debut features traditional numbers ("Shady Grove"), original songs ("Housewife's Lament" and "Angel Gabriel," both written by Joplin) and a combination of the two, as in "Peggy-O," with added words by Joplin.

The band features Joplin on guitar and vocals, Starr on electric guitar and vocals, and David Mayfield (Cadillac Sky, Jessica Lea Mayfield) on mandolin, banjo and backing vocals, Brian Harrison on bass and Bryan Owings on drums.

This Mountain Stage performance originally aired April 7, 2010.
