New Orleans' Preservation Hall Jazz Band stays true to the mission statement implied by its name: It's all about preserving the history of its music, from an iconic hometown venue to the classic jazz, blues, soul and old-time songs it lovingly reconstructs. Earlier this year, the group released a record titled Preservation: An Album to Benefit Preservation Hall and the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program, which features many of the artists playing this year's Newport Folk Festival in Newport, R.I., including Andrew Bird, Yim Yames, Brandi Carlile, Cory Chisel and more. Odds of special guests at this one: better than 50/50.

Set List
  • "Bourbon Street Parade"
  • "Short Dressed Gal"
  • "My Sweet Substitute"
  • "Devil and the Deep Blue Sea"
  • "Some Cold Rainy Day"
  • "Shake It and Break It"
  • "Blue Yodal"
  • "St. James Infirmary"
