Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band return to Mountain Stage for their third appearance since 2003, performing songs from Ritter's latest release, So Runs the World Away.

Ritter's sixth studio album is the follow-up to 2007's critically acclaimed The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter, partially inspired by a short story Ritter began to write. The Idaho-born singer-songwriter found himself touring with The Frames in Ireland soon after his breakout album Golden Age of Radio in 2002. He's become a favorite of many, including Joan Baez, who recorded one of his songs after they appeared on a Mountain Stage episode together.

This Mountain Stage performance was originally published Oct. 4, 2010.
