Deerhunter In Concert

Bradford Cox, frontman for the ambient punk bands Deerhunter and Atlas Sound, gives unforgettable live performances. Tall and gangly, the Atlanta native is known to don dresses and smear his body with fake blood while thrashing on stage to an epic and transfixing torrent of psychedelic guitar noise. Cox and the other members of Deerhunter bring their thrilling stage show to Washington, D.C. for a full concert, recorded live from the 9:30 Club.

You'd be hard-pressed to find an artist who's produced as much inspired music as Cox did between 2007 and 2008, a remarkably prolific year in which he released the equivalent of four full-length and nearly flawless albums under the Deerhunter and Atlas Sound names. The records — Cryptograms, Microcastle/Weird Era Cont., and Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel — quickly established Cox as a gifted young composer and producer of hypnotic, droning noise-rock. His latest record, released under the Deerhunter name, is Halcyon Digest.

Cox grew up in Athens and Atlanta in the late '80s and early '90s. As a child, he was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disorder which causes him to have unusually long limbs and fingers. He says the condition often isolated him from other kids while growing up, and that the loneliness he felt has helped inspire his strange and often haunting songs.
