Set List

  • “Brooklyn Blurs”
  • “Sympathetic Vibrations”
  • “Motion Sickness”
  • “Rewind”

The Paper Raincoat, a Brooklyn-based duo made up of songwriters Amber Rubarth and Alex Wong, comes to Mountain Stage for the first time with songs from their 2009 self-titled debut album. Rubarth and Wong create stirring harmonies with songs based around fictional characters in a story about the invention of a paper raincoat. They were recently featured in Paste Magazine as the "Best of What's Next" in pop music. The audience gathered on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown, W. Va., is treated to the band's unique live performance, including the percussive, tuneful song "Rewind."

Wong has appeared on Mountain Stage once before, accompanying Vienna Teng. Rubarth recently took home top honors on her own merits in the 2010 Mountain Stage NewSong competition for performing songwriters in New York City. They are joined in this performance by Kevin Rice on drums, Melissa Tong on violin and Dave Fallo on viola.

This Mountain Stage performance was originally published Oct 27, 2010.
