Singer-songwriter Brooke Waggoner is a classically trained pianist and writes songs with an artsy bent. In her second appearance on Mountain Stage, she performs songs from album Go Easy Little Doves. Her lyrics are full of imagery and emotion, while her songs often switch tempos and time signatures, with instrumental passages heightening the mood.

At the piano herself, Waggoner is accompanied here by Brad Odum on drums, Matt Nelson on cello and Ben Gortmaker on bass, guitar and lap steel guitar.

Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson ends the performance with a birthday tribute to Thelonious Monk, who would've turned 93 on the day of this recording.

This Mountain Stage performance was originally published Nov. 10, 2010.
