Alejandro Escovedo's storied career has spanned multiple decades and genres. Over the years, he's belonged to groups Rank & File, The True Believers and The Nuns, who opened for The Sex Pistols at their final show in San Francisco.
Street Songs of Love is Escovedo's 10th solo album and contains most of the songs performed during his trip to Mountain Stage. Over the course of his solo output, Escovedo has worked with several different producers, many of which have appeared on Mountain Stage as guests, including Chris Stamey, John Cale of The Velvet Underground and Stephen Bruton.
Escovedo wrote and dedicated the instrumental "Fort Worth Blues" to Bruton, who passed away from cancer last year. "Always A Friend" appears on 2008's critically acclaimed Real Animal.
