From around Chapel Hill, N.C., chamber folk group Lost in the Trees is led by guitarist and composer Ari Picker. After studying music for film at the Berklee College of Music, Picker migrated south to form Lost in the Trees. The group released its baroque and romantic-influenced CD Alone in an Empty House in 2008. Anti- Records picked up and re-released it in 2010 with production work by North Carolina producer Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Spoon, St. Vincent).
The seven-member group is a small orchestra within itself, playing textural, evocative songs with an accordion, French horn, tuba, violin and two cellos.
This Mountain Stage performance was originally published Nov. 18, 2010.
