A legendary figure only now coming to prominence, Jason D. Williams is a spirited honky-tonk pianist and untamed performer. Emerging from the mold of Jerry Lee Lewis, Williams went into the studio with fellow forward-thinker Todd Snider, who produced his latest record, Killer Instinct. Snider co-wrote the album's first single, "You Look Like I Could Use a Drink," and brought in Georgia Satellites cohorts Dan Baird and Keith Christopher, among others, to record with Williams.

In his Mountain Stage debut, Williams improvises tunes on the spot, tapping the strings with drumsticks and even lies down on top the piano, playing behind his head. His medley of "I'll Fly Away" prompted a rare mid-set standing ovation. He is accompanied by bassist Mike Harber, drummer Chris Sechler and guitarist James "Cadillac Crumb" Davis on guitar.

This performance was originally published on Nov. 25, 2010.
