Summer Fiction, the moniker of Philadelphia singer-songwriter Bill Ricchini, is one of the more heartwarming projects to emerge out of the city in years. On his self-titled debut album, Ricchini melds together strings, winds, harpsichord, piano, guitar, vocals and a wealth of interesting percussive instruments — most of them recorded in his bedroom. The album was later fleshed out by classical performers and contributions from fellow Philly bands BC Camplight and Buried Beds.

Hear two tracks from the album, selected by World Cafe host David Dye.
