Wills Glasspiegel for NPR

This big band was a ball of fun, a full horn section that included some growling saxophones and a killer rhythm section. Bred from Bogotá's fiery and inventive music scene, La-33's innovative brand of salsa dura (hard salsa) mixes a number of influences from Colombian jazz to ska and classical. They even reworked the theme to The Pink Panther into a danceable number complete with Spanish lyrics.
