Pedrito Martinez: globalFEST 2011
Pedrito Martinez Group performing at globalFEST 2011.
This very hot Afro-Cuban band is led by Pedro "Pedrito" Martinez. Martinez is from Havana and has been singing and drumming professionally since his early teens. Martinez won the Thelonious Monk Competition during the first year it showcased Afro-Latin hand drumming. His sound has been featured in projects by Paquito D'Rivera and Eddie Palmieri, and he was a central figure in the seminal New York band Yerba Buena.
