The funkiest full-throttle fun at globalFEST 2011 hailed from Brazil: Orquestra Contemporanea de Olinda. The multi-generational members take Latin melodies and African rhythms and infuse them with soulful funk. They mix the hip-hop-inspired mangue bit, or mangue beat, with the brassy frevo carnival music of Pernambuco.
