Highly regarded as a performer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Darrell Scott has seen his songs covered by more than 70 artists in various genres.

For his album, Modern Hymns, Scott sets his distinct vocals to songs by some of the writers he admires most. He performs a solo acoustic rendition of Paul Simon's "American Tune" before previewing his upcoming album, The Crooked Road, for which Scott wrote all the songs and plays all the instruments.

He invites electric guitarist Michael Lipton to the stage for "Colorado" and dedicates "Love's Not Through With Me Yet" (featuring a solo by guitarist Ryan Kennedy) to the lovers and the "wannabe lovers" gathered on Valentine's Day 2010, when this segment was recorded. Scott moves to the piano for "The Open Door," featuring omnichord by Lipton.

Also appearing from the Mountain Stage band is Ron Sowell on harmonica, Bob Thompson on piano, Ammed Solomon on drums and Steve Hill on bass.

This segment originally aired on April 22, 2010.
