Born Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins, Aloe Blacc is a first-generation American of Panamanian descent who combines soul with hip-hop, salsa, jazz, R&B and tropicalia. He originally recorded hip-hop as a member of the 1990s outfit Emanon before releasing a solo album titled Shine Through in 2006. Last year, he released his second album, Good Things, which focuses on 1960s and '70s soul and funk music.

Hear Blacc play the aforementioned song and chat with World Cafe host David Dye about the transition from MC to soul crooner, as well as the creation of Good Things.
