Raccoon Gets Team Booted From Tournament

A North Dakota high school wrestling team picked up what they thought was a dead raccoon. They put the carcass in the storage compartment of the bus. They opened it later, and the animal walked away. Nobody's sure whether it had rabies. The team was pulled out of the regional championship as a precaution.

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

A North Dakota raccoon was apparently just playing dead. A high school wrestling team picked up what they thought was a dead animal on their way to a tournament. They put the carcass in the storage compartment of the bus. Later, they opened it and the animal walked away.

Then the raccoon got revenge for its captivity. Nobody's sure if it had rabies. So the Carrington High School team was pulled out of the regional championship as a precaution.
