STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

A man walked into a McDonald's restaurant in Cobb County, Georgia, and he made a request. He asked an employee to borrow a pencil. And while he was at it he also asked for a piece of paper. The cooperative employee agreed. The grateful man then wrote something on the paper and handed it back. It was a robbery note. He soon walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash. The man claimed he had a gun, even though he didn't have a pencil.
