After a chance meeting in a skate park in California, Grammy-winning musician Ben Harper teamed up with singer-songwriters Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison (son of The Beatles' George Harrison). The trio managed to write and record nine original acoustic songs, with some help from drummer Jim Keltner and violinist Jessy Greene.

The nature of the impromptu pairing makes for an exciting story, but the trio doubted much would become of it. "It's funny how some things manifest so quickly — come up with a band, a name, an idea," says Arthur. "And suddenly see T-shirts with the name it."

Fistful Of Mercy released its debut LP, As I Call You Down, last fall.
