Woodlands, Texas native Hayes Carll makes his third appearance on Mountain Stage to perform songs from his latest record, KMAG – YOYO (and Other American Stories). The album represents a departure from his prior releases in that it combines the folk and storytelling elements he's known for with a more driven, rock 'n' roll sound.

An irreverent and often humorous songwriter in the tradition of fellow Texans Guy Clark and Ray Wylie Hubbard (he's collaborated with both), Carll's well-honed band and charming banter are in full force here. He duets with bassist Bonnie Whitmore on the clever, bar-stool back-and-forth of "Another Like You," joined by drummer Kenny Smith and lead guitarist Scott Davis.

This segment originally aired on March 30, 2011.
