Lots of things have changed from Nicole Atkins' debut, Neptune City. She has a new band, a new label and a new sound on Mondo Amore. Described with adjectives like "fierce," her sophomore LP is filled with dark songs (relatively speaking).

Hear Atkins talk about the inspiration behind the new album, and co-writing the song "Cry Cry Cry," which she performed recently at World Cafe Live. The session ends with a powerful rendition of Mondo Amore's finale, "The Tower."
