In another "Flashback" segment, Mountain Stage looks back to April 29, 1990, when the innovative group Capercaillie brought their energetic, highly danceable Scottish music to the show. Some 21 years later, this would turn out to be one of the reasons Mountain Stage recorded the 2011 Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow.

When a member of the arts community in Charleston, W. Va., suggested Mountain Stage travel to Scotland, it seemed like a far-fetched idea. However, Celtic Connections organizer — and Capercaillie member — Donald Shaw was familiar with the radio show from his performance back in 1990.

More than 25 years into their career, the members of Capercaillie continue to perform and release new music, most recently 2008's Roses and Tears.

This performance originally ran on April 8, 2011.
