Ra Ra Riot makes its first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W. Va.

During a lull in its touring schedule, the band decamped to a peach orchard in upstate New York where it wrote the songs that comprise its 2010 release, appropriately titled The Orchard. The voice of Wesley Miles blends with guitarists Milo Bonacci's rhythmic hooks in this six-song set, which includes "Can You Tell" from the band's debut release The Rhumb Line, and "Too Dramatic" from The Orchard.

Founded in 2006 on the campus of Syracuse University, Ra Ra Riot quickly earned a loyal following on the strength of its innovative combination of energetic alt-rock and melodic chamber pop. After relocating to New York City, Ra Ra Riot released a self-titled EP in the summer of 2007, and The Rhumb Line followed a year later.

This segment originally aired on May 9th, 2011.
