The ever-traveling Canadian songsmith Fred Eaglesmith brings his quick wit, tight band, and new songs to Mountain Stage. Some pretty big country names have covered some of his material recently, including Alan Jackson ("Freight Train") and Miranda Lambert ("Time to Get a Gun").
Eaglesmith is joined by Tiffani and Brit Ginn (of the Fabulous Ginn Sisters) on vocals, drummer Kori Heppner, multi-instrumentalist Matty Simpson and bassist Luke Stackhouse. The band performs a fresh set of songs from Eaglesmith's latest album, Cha Cha Cha, peppered with the songwriter's sarcastic commentary.
Host Larry Groce caps off the set with a story about Eaglesmith's first appearance on Mountain Stage when his wood stove-equipped touring bus caused a bit of a stir among locals.
This Mountain Stage performance was originally published on July 14, 2010.
