In an evening of family-filled bands, L&O (wife and husband Laure and Olivier Slabiak) kept the theme going at globalFEST, but with the old-world charm of French chanson. Olivier is a veteran of the kinetic gypsy-rock fusion group Les Yeux Noirs. But when he works with his classically trained wife, he strikes a more genteel and folksy tone.

In one or two numbers, the pair's mix of strings and percussion got the body moving, but most of the fare wound up probing more introspective passions.

Originally recorded Jan. 11, 2009, at globalFEST.
