SXSW 2007: Peter, Bjorn and John
Recorded Live on March 15, 2007, Produced by WXPN
Peter, Bjorn and John
Set List
- "Paris 2004"
- "Amsterdam"
- "Young Folks"
- "Let's Call It off"
- "Object of my Affection"
The indie-rock world fell fast and hard for "Young Folks," an infectious pop song with driving congas and a whistled melody. Peter, Bjorn and John's Writer's Block is much the same: Rhythms seem to be inventive by accident and unexpected instrumentation (like steel drums) adds surprising depth. Even with such an unorthodox approach, every song holds together with a great degree of hummability. Throughout the disc, the Swedish pop group seems to focus on achieving the best hook-laden arrangements possible. Hosted by Bruce Warren.
Producers of NPR's World Cafe, Y-Rock On XPN and XPoNential Music On Demand, Philadelphia's WXPN showcases heritage and emerging artists in rock, blues, folk, and beyond.
