Under Byen began with two friends, Katrine Stochholm and Henriette Sennenvaldt, in 1995. Realizing that their songs would sound better with a violin, cello and accordion, more members were recruited to flesh out the band. Under Byen, which translates as "under the city" in the band's native Danish, is a wintry dream-pop band whose songs creep and crawl. Pretty, yet somber and haunting, the octet has released three full-length albums, the latest of which is titled Samme Stof Som Stof.

Seattle-based KEXP presents a diverse mix of music, live performances and podcasts from indie rock and punk to jazz and old school soul.
