This special look back into the Mountain Stage archives features a rare look at an artist poised for stardom. Norah Jones appeared on Mountain Stage on March 10, 2002, barely a week after the release of her landmark album Come Away With Me.

After her performance, host Larry Groce told the audience, "I don't think you have to be a genius to predict big things for this singer." Just one year later, Come Away With Me had sold over 10 million copies and Jones was posing for photos with an armload of Grammy awards, among them Best New Artist and Album of the Year trophies.

Backed by her own band, Jones performed six songs from Come Away With Me, including the title track, as well as "Don't Know Why," which earned songwriter Jesse Harris a Grammy for Song of the Year.

This segment originally aired on June 20th, 2011.
