Boston singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler's music is dreamy, melancholy and utterly captivating. Nadler's minimal arrangements highlight her warm, warbling soprano and delicately finger-picked acoustic guitar, intensified by subtle washes of reverb and electronics. The result is a subtle yet psychedelic sound that fits comfortably alongside indie-folk contemporaries like Will Oldham and Sharon van Etten while evoking the timeless elegance of old masters like Vashti Bunyan and Leonard Cohen.

Nadler's new self-titled album, released earlier this month on her own Box of Cedar imprint, was fan-funded through a Kickstarter campaign and featured as an NPR First Listen. This week's episode of "World Café: Next" features two songs from Marissa Nadler.
