STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

Derek McBride was about to marry his bride when he made a wrong step. On his wedding day, the Pennsylvania man fell down the stairs and broke three ribs and suffered a collapsed lung. But the Eire Times-News reports the wedding went ahead. It was moved to the hospital chapel, which nurses decorated with balloons made out of medical gloves. The bride, Casey Messenger, wore her gown and Mr. McBride wore his, the kind that opens in the back.

It's MORNING EDITION.
