Birkwin Jersey On 'World Cafe: Next'
Birkwin Jersey is this week's 'World Cafe: Next' artist.
Set List
- "Sixes and Nines"
- "Worlds and Oysters"
Graeme Coop, a.k.a. Birkwin Jersey, is a young electronic musician from Brighton, England. His debut album, Time Doesn't Exist, Clocks Do, was released earlier this month on Absent Fever, a DIY digital label and music collective run by two friends in the United States.
Coop is just getting started, but the surprisingly mature aesthetic showcased on his debut dovetails nicely with what producers like Four Tet and Gold Panda are doing. His meditative compositions are built entirely from digital effects and samples, yet they have a great deal of organic warmth and grain.
Time Doesn't Exist, Clocks Do is getting more and more attention in the blogosphere, and it's available for download on Bandcamp. Hear two songs from Birkwin Jersey's debut on this week's "World Cafe: Next."
