A year and a half ago, Wal-Mart bought the video streaming service VUDU. Now it has moved the service onto the main Walmart.com website to attract more eyeballs. Online shoppers can order DVDs by mail or for store pickup, or they can stream them directly from the website.

(Soundbite of music)

INSKEEP: Wal-Mart is now offering video streaming directly from its website. The move is a direct challenge to competitors like Netflix and Amazon. No monthly subscriptions are being sold yet. Wal-Mart Web shoppers can order DVDs by mail, for store pickup, or stream them directly from the website.
