Wal-Mart Offers Streaming Video Online
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
NPR's business news starts with a new player in video streaming.
(Soundbite of music)
INSKEEP: Wal-Mart is now offering video streaming directly from its website. The move is a direct challenge to competitors like Netflix and Amazon. It is not entirely out of the blue that Wal-Mart would do this. A year and a half ago the company bought the video streaming service Vudu. It's just moved the service onto the main Wal-Mart.com website to attract more eyeballs.
No monthly subscriptions are being sold yet. Wal-Mart Web shoppers can order DVDs by mail, for store pickup, or stream them directly from the website.
