To celebrate Hot Dog Month, Rob Merlino has eaten a frank every day in July, according to the Boston Globe. The 47-year old father of five is eating them grilled, steamed, boiled and fried at shacks and diners throughout New England.

MARY LOUISE KELLY, host:

Good morning. I'm Mary Louise Kelly.

July is National Hot Dog month. And one Massachusetts man is taking that seriously. Rob Merlino has eaten a frank for lunch every day this month, according to the Boston Globe. The 47-year-old father of five is eating them grilled, steamed, boiled and fried at shacks and diners throughout New England. Merlino says he doesn't see the big deal. He points out the winner of the July 4th Coney Island contest ate twice as many dogs in 10 minutes.

It's MORNING EDITION.
