Philadelphia's Amos Lee has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years, completing the unlikely journey from "just another laid-back, likable, guitar-slinging singer-songwriter" to "best-selling touring warhorse." But Lee has done just that, joining the ranks of Jack Johnson among guys who've managed to break through the din of soul- and folk-inspired singers and really connect with gigantic swaths of the public. Lee's latest album is the hooky, honest and introspective Mission Bell, a record he's sure to mine for highlights when he plays the 2011 Newport Folk Festival in Newport, R.I.
