The Cave Singers' roots sprawl into the realm of dark rock — including the band Pretty Girls Make Graves — but its members' newer material swims in the murky waters of rustic Americana. Here's hoping the 2011 Newport Folk Festival booked a charter plane from the Pacific Northwest to Newport, R.I., because The Cave Singers' members are among the many Newport players to haunt that region. But the group has a sound all its own, informed as much by the Greenwich Village folk scene as it is by rural-minded nostalgia and the unkempt beardedness of, say, Fleet Foxes. The Cave Singers' new album is titled No Witch.
