DAVID GREENE, host:

Good morning. I'm David Greene.

The Coast Guard in Finland might file criminal charges against a ferry captain. His passenger boat slammed into a rock near Helsinki, breaking dishes and slightly injuring some of the 54 passengers onboard. The problem: no one was at the wheel. The captain had run to the bathroom, and the lock on the door got jammed. The lead investigator on the case said simply, quote, "He was stuck in the toilet. As soon as the staff member got the door open, it was too late."

It's MORNING EDITION.
