Officials in Portsmouth, Ohio, made changes to the garbage pick-up last week, following a holiday. But Janice Shanks was overlooked, and so her trash piled up. Wanting to send a message, she bagged up the garbage and delivered it to the mayor's office.

DAVID GREENE, host:

Good morning. I'm David Greene with some trashy news. Portsmouth, Ohio made changes to its garbage pickup last week following a holiday. But Janice Shanks was overlooked. Her trash piled up. She wanted to send a message. So she bagged up the garbage and delivered it to the mayor's office. The local paper has a photo of the mayor staring at Shanks with two trash bags behind her on his office floor. The mayor was cordial and said he'd take the trash to the waste disposal department.

It's MORNING EDITION.
