Obamas Kick Back With White House Homebrew
SCOTT SIMON, Host:
President Obama met Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer at the White House this week, to award him the Medal of Honor for valor in Afghanistan. The two first got together and talked, man to man, over a beer.
What brand of beer is fit to serve a Medal of Honor winner? It turns out that the White House brews its own, with equipment purchased by the Obamas. They have served small batches previously, at Super Bowl and St. Patrick's Day parties. The White House curator says near as he can tell, Mr. Obama is the first president to brew his own suds in the White House. Thomas Jefferson was a gourmand, but more of a wine guy.
The White House brewski is reportedly a honey wheat ale. They haven't disclosed a recipe. But the North Koreans are already working on it.
