Milagres: A Swirling Wall Of Sound
Hear More Songs From The Session
This summer, Milagres visited Cutting Room Studios in New York while I was broadcasting the KEXP Morning Show there. It's safe to say the band felt at ease in its hometown, because its performance for us was stunning.
What immediately jumped out from the session was singer Kyle Wilson's gorgeous voice, which rode the tunes' ebb and flow but could also stop on a dime and make listeners' hair stand on end. His beautiful falsetto was a perfect match for the intricate arrangements and powerful emotion in Milagres' music. The band has expanded its sound with even more guitars and keyboards, which help create a thick wall of sound.
I can't say enough about Milagres' great sense of humor, and the apparent ease the band's members felt in each other's company. This was the kind of live session that makes me want to sit down with Milagres' record, Glowing Mouth, and search for intricacies I might have missed the first time around.
