Sunn O)))'s members wear hooded robes, but the four Finnish men behind Hooded Menace donned hooded sweatshirts at Sonar for Maryland Deathfest. And, lest ye think any less of these men for their non-occult garb, rest assured that their death-themed doom-metal hypnotized everyone in attendance. Lasse Pyykko's grueling, Black Sabbath-influenced, slow-motion guitar riffs were shrouded in massive reverb — it was as if he was burying the audience alive, with vocalist Oula Kerkelä as the gravedigger, growling a funeral song.
