Neo-soul and indie-pop ensemble Fitz and the Tantrums make their first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va.

It's no exaggeration to say that Fitz and the Tantrums have been one of the hottest groups of the past two years. Their breakthrough release Pickin' Up the Pieces earned them repeated appearances on late night television, and they've spent countless days on the road, playing to sold-out crowds in nearly every major American city.

But it's likely that the group's Mountain Stage debut was the first time they've shared the bill with a bluegrass band. Headed up by singers Michael Fitzpatrick (whose powerful vocals draw instant comparisons to Daryl Hall) and the charismatic Noelle Scaggs, the band's signature sound also features vintage keyboard tones, horns and — most striking — no guitar. They play a selection of songs from their most recent album, including the infectious "Moneygrabber," and a raucous cover of the Eurythmics classic "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)."
