STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep with a story of a convenience store clerk who would not be robbed. Police in Washington state say a man pulled out a knife and leaped behind the cash register. The clerk was unarmed but decided to fight back. Remember, a knife is very dangerous but a floor mop has greater range. The clerk swung the mop so hard he knocked the bandit to the floor and then chased the guy out of the store without surrendering so much as a quarter or a candy bar.
