Cat Falls From 19th-Floor Window, Lands Safely

In Boston, a cat fell out the window of a 19th story apartment, nearly 200 feet and landed with hardly a scrape. Hugh Davis of the Animal Rescue League told WBZ-TV that cats are more likely to survive a fall from higher than nine stories because they have more time to get into a flying squirrel position to slow the descent. Still, the woman who owns the Boston cat says she's installing screens.

DAVID GREENE, HOST:

Good morning. I'm David Greene. In Boston, a cat fell out the window of a 19 story apartment. Nearly 200 feet and hardly a scrape. Sounds miraculous. Well, turns out there are studies showing that cats are more likely to survive when they fall from higher than nine stories. Hugh Davis of the Animal Rescue League told WBZ-TV that cats have more time to relax and go into a flying squirrel position to slow the dissent. Still, the woman who owns the Boston cat says she is installing screens. It's MORNING EDITION.
