"Star Wars Uncut" let hundreds of people try their hand at directing the classic film.
Everyone loves Star Wars. At least that's what Casey Pugh was banking on when he "asked the Internet" to remake the entire film in 15-second increments. Using a website, StarWarsUncut.com, Pugh created a system where visitors could sign up to make one of 473 moments in George Lucas' 1977 hit film. Contributors were free to remake their scene however they wanted, and they ran the gamut of styles: action hero, animation, film noir, backyard antics and — of course — parody.
Though many elements of the film are not of his invention, Pugh still considers himself the film's "director." The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences agreed; they awarded Pugh an Emmy for Star Wars Uncut in 2011.
