World Cafe Gets Funky In New Orleans

This past January, World Cafe host David Dye led a World Cafe Travel Adventure to New Orleans. With a group of fans and producers in tow, they recorded a new edition of the WXPN series Sense of Place, which explores local music scenes in cities around the world.

New Orleans was the most musically jam-packed adventure yet. Between gallivanting through neighborhoods bars, and clubs to hear authentic NOLA jazz, funk, brass band, soul and rock ‘n roll—it’s a wonder this crew found time to slurp down a good bowl of gumbo. Explore the interactive map below for stories, photos and videos of the city’s highlights, as recommended by Trombone Shorty, Ani DiFranco, John Boutté, Treme’s Davis Rogan, and Dr. John.
