The Movie Anthony Mackie's 'Seen A Million Times'

The movie that Anthony Mackie could watch a million times is "Top Gun."

The weekends on All Things Considered series Movies I've Seen a Million Times features filmmakers, actors, writers and directors talking about the movies that they never get tired of watching.

For actor Anthony Mackie, whose credits include She Hate Me, The Hurt Locker, The Adjustment Bureau and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter — which opens in theaters this weekend — the movie he could watch a million times is Tony Scott's Top Gun. The first time that he saw it, "I was completely just enthralled by it," says Mackie.

INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS

On when he first saw Top Gun

"I was about 11 or 12, I was really into airplanes the first time I saw Top Gun, and it was on TV, and all I see are these F-16 Tomcats falling into the frame. I was like, 'This is amazing!' I was completely just enthralled by it."

On why he loves Val Kilmer's performance as Iceman

"There's this scene where he bites at Maverick, and it's the weirdest moment in film history, but it works! When he bites in his face, [you're] like, 'Oh, that guy is sleazy!'"

On how the movie has changed over time

"I think the older I get, the more corny it gets. 'Cause now I just watch it and I laugh at it."
