All Things Considered hosts Melissa Block and Audie Cornish look ahead at the week in tech, with expected announcements from the Google's developers conference.

From NPR News, this is ALL THINGS CONSIDERED. I'm Audie Cornish.

I'm Melissa Block. And it's time for All Tech Considered.

BLOCK: In our look ahead this week, NPR's Laura Sydell says San Francisco is abuzz about Wednesday's Google developers conference.

LAURA SYDELL, BYLINE: All kinds of people come from all over the world to find out what's new about making apps for Google's Chrome and Android systems. And so the geeks gather here.

BLOCK: And they hope to hear some much-anticipated announcements, including a new operating system for Android phones and maybe a new tablet.

SYDELL: The rumors are that it's going to be inexpensive, that it's going to be like around $200 like, you know, the Amazon Fire.

BLOCK: And if that does happen, the new budget-conscious tablet announcement would come just one week after Microsoft introduced its new tablet. Both hope to cut into Apple's dominance with the iPad.
