It's been a tumultuous and exciting year. To mark its end, NPR Double Take will be recapping the biggest news events, going month by month to bring you the best cartoons on the issues.

When the Ninth Federal Circuit invalidated California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage, Daryl Cagle could bearly contain his approval. Steve Kelley though it was a miscue when the Obama Administration required contraceptives to be included in most employer-sponsored health care plans, prompting many church-owned entities to go to court.
