Double Take 'Toons: 2012: Scruggs and Summer

Music lost many artists this year who defined or redefined their genres, such as country great Earl Scruggs (toon by Randall Enos) and the "Queen of Disco" Donna Summer (toon by Taylor Jones). Jazz also lost Dave Brubeck; hip-hop, Adam Yauch; classical, Elliot Carter; pop, Andy Williams; rock, Levon Helm; Broadway and film, Marvin Hamlisch; "Godfather of Go-Go" Chuck Brown; and Etta James, who could sing anything.
