 Dapre Nou (From Our Eyes)
Project Manager's note:

I often talk to students and professionals about the need to learn many different skill sets to succeed (or stay employed) in media today. I am skeptical of "convergence." I am not convinced having one person doing the jobs of three or four people makes journalism "better." That said, knowing how to both produce report for audio and video and do it well, can lead to good things.

Amelia had a story from Haiti on Morning Edition and now she's produced a second short film. Amelia sets it up this way:

"I first went to Haiti in 2002, and was immediately shocked by two things - the depth of the poverty, and the wealth of youth talent around me everywhere, vibrant and unrealized. With the help of three young Haitians, we created a company called Agence des Jeunes Producteurs to make films about AIDS, and train youth and HIV-positive people as actors and young producers. "Dapre Nou" (From Our Eyes) is our second film, and we fought hard to make it. As the country fell apart around us, our team and the hundreds of kids around Haiti who collaborated on the project never lost sight of our dream to make a film, and make a difference. Some braved tear gas, others bullets, but most just stood up to a culture of silence to speak out about a deadly disease. They are an inspiration to Haiti, to youth, and to the next generation."

We couldn't agree more...
